Series: An Oceanside Mystery #2
Fiction, Mystery, Cozy Mystery, Woman Sleuth
Maisie Swenson is back again in this spirited follow up Deadly Reservation. This time Maisie is looking for some rest and inspiration for her mystery book writing, so she visits Holy King Church which was written up in a travel guide, and unbeknownst to Maisie is immersed in folklore.
Once Maisie is at the church, she is horrified to discover a motionless woman who is dressed in a gown with flowers in her hair. Shortly after this shocking discovery, she finds a man in the hotel, where she works, in the same condition. These instances seem to be connected, but how?
Soon, Maisie is told that there is a legend about a secret love affair between a pirate and the daughter of a prominent family. Rumors are flying faster than a rocket sled that the church is haunted, and the motionless couple Maisie found is cursed.
Maisie begins to feel cursed herself. First, she thinks she starts seeing ghosts, and then she gets attacked by Sleeping Beauty’s disgruntled family member. Danger seems to haunt her in this compelling second book in the Oceanside Mystery series.
I have fallen under Maisie Swenson’s spell. This crafty plot had me guessing until almost the end. I enjoy spending time with the engaging characters in this series.
